Panchatikta Kashayam is a very famous Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form. It is also known as  Panchatikta  kashayam, Panchatikta  kashaya. It is made of five herbal ingredients and is bitter in taste. So the name Panchatikta.
Panchatikta  Kashayam benefits: 
It is used in the treatment of malarial fever with tremours, chronic fevers, 3rd and 4th day fevers and irregular fevers.
It is a potent antiviral and antibacterial herb.
Some Ayurvedic doctors prescribe this medicine as a preventive measure during outbreak of endemic diseases.
It boosts immunity.
Panchatikta Kashayam dose: 
The dose is 12 – 24 ml, before food, at about 6 – 7am and 6 – 7 pm or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
It is usually advised to add equal amount of water to the kashayam.
It is advised to have a little honey after taking this medicine.
Pathya:
Light food, gruel of fine grains of rice or flowered rice or green gram or black coffee may be taken.
All bathing, butter milk, curd milk, meat and oily items and other items hard to digest and sex are to be strictly avoided.
Adjuvants:
Chukkumtippalyadi gulika, Ramabanam or Jwarankusam or even Vishamajwarantakam.
Panchatikta Kashaya Side Effects: 
There are no known side effects with this medicine. 
However it is best to use this product under medical supervision. 
Self medication with this medicine is discouraged.
Special care and precaution is required while administering this medicine to people with diabetes, because this medicine may lower the blood sugar levels.
Panchatikta Kashayam Ingredients: 
Kshudra – Solanum xanthocarpum
Amruta – Tinospora cordifolia
Nagara – Ginger
Paushkara – Inula racemosa
Kiratatikta – Swertia chirata
It is added with 8 parts of water, boiled and reduced to quarter part, filtered.
