Chitrakasavam is a self generated alcoholic preparation. where the main ingredient is chitraka.

Its usage:

1. In treating respiratory disorders.
2. In gastric disorders.
3. Also in Shwitra – leucoderma
4. Kushta – skin diseases and anemia.

Dosage:

5-12ml with equal quantity of warm water twice daily. prefer milk during this treatment as chitrka is hot in nature or as directed by the physician.

Chitrakasavam ingredients:

Gomutra – cow urine

Chitraka – Plumbago zeylanica

Vyosha – Trikatu – ginger, pepper and long pepper

Kshaudra – honey

All these ingredients along with water is taken in a vessel smeared with ghee. Left for fermentation for 15 days, then the contents are filtered.

Usually distilled Cow urine is used in this medicine preparation.

Shelf life – 10 years from the date of manufacture.
